 Tops Core Curriculum

Our counseling program prioritizes student access to our counselors to develop relationships, discuss goals, and determine which courses (both high school and Dual Enrollment) will provide the best for their graduation requirements, TOPS requirements, and degree requirements for their future pursuits.  When choosing courses and making schedules, counselors will always reference the current Louisiana Board of Regents Articulation Matrix and strive to ensure that the courses students take at LSUA will transfer and count for credit at the student's intended future college of choice toward their major of interest.

Students who choose to pursue an Associate's degree from LSUA may earn an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree by the time they graduate if they:

dual enrollment

LSUA offers qualified high school students the ability to take college courses that apply toward a college degree and high school credit at the same time! Students work directly with their high school counselor to determine which Dual Enrollment courses to choose. These courses can be taken on the campus of LSUA or online.

All courses taken through Dual Enrollment are college courses and are placed on the student's college transcript.

Placement Guide

Together with the GPA requirement, if a student has any score in the Humanities and Social Science placement score column, they are eligible to enroll in a Humanity or Social Science dual enrollment course. If they have both the GPA and any score in the Science and Mathematics placement score column, they are eligible to enroll in a Science or Mathematics dual enrollment course. In addition, students must meet all pre-requisites required for any specific course.

In order to continue taking Dual Enrollment Courses, students must have an overall LSUA GPA of 2.0 or higher and maintain a high school GPA of at least a 2.5.
